Baby Session

If you’ve missed the newborn stage of up to 4 weeks old then this is the session for you.

These sessions are for babies between 4-10 weeks old.

Once babies get to about 4 weeks old, they tend to stretch out more and stay awake much longer which can make it difficult to do those gorgeous curled up poses you can do as a newborn . However, this does not mean we still can’t get some gorgeous images at this stage.

I still attempt newborn style images at this stage, the difference being baby tends to be more wrapped, we aim for more props shots, plus baby is generally more alert so we can get some lovely awake images. Parents and family images are still taken at this stage.

As always, the session will be baby led so I always advise to allow up to 3 hours for the session but generally most take between 1-2 hours.

What’s included in Your Session
  • Up to 2 hours shoot time for Babies.
  • Use of any props and accessories as required.
  • Custom processing of at least 20 images in both colour and black and white.
  • Minimum of 1 watermarked preview image on Facebook (unless privacy requested).
  • Your own private password protected online viewing gallery for 30 days. This can be shared with friends and family.
  • Advice on ordering and products.
  • 30% off Sitter Session.

What do I need to do in preparation?
  • Please bring a dummy if baby is using one.
  • I highly recommend bringing baby wipes/tissues/nappies and a baby blanket so they have something familiar with them.
  • Also a travel changing mat would be advised to place over the top of mine for added safety.
  • Make sure plenty of milk is at hand as baby will probably feed more during the session than normal.
  • It is vital that your baby is healthy and well. If baby has any issues the night before or prior to the session please let me know and we can always re-schedule. I will also do the same for my general health as your baby’s health is my priority.

Try to time your feed for when you arrive or just before you set off so baby has a full tummy for the session. Try to avoid as much napping prior as possible, that way baby should sleep well.

What clothing should I wear?

I would suggest layers as it gets hot in the studio up to 25 degrees as baby is without clothes for beanbag shots. If you would like photos of yourself with your baby I would suggest plain, bold colours like black or white. Avoid big logos/stripes to detract away from your face.

What will happen on the shoot?

I’ll try to vary the shoot by using different positions, different backgrounds and a variety of props. Obviously I will be limiting these to props that can be washed or cleaned properly.
I will provide everything that we need for the session. I always ask that a parent is on hand to help with positioning and handling the baby.
The session is very relaxed and baby-lead, most of the time we will be feeding baby, changing baby and waiting till the baby is in a deep sleep hence why these sessions can take up to 2 hours.
As the session is done at my home studio, it will be very comfortable; you are welcome to bring your own refreshments. If you require a parent shot we will do these at either the start/end of the session. The studio will be marked out in order for us to keep socially distant.

What happens after?

Once the session is over, I will edit all the photos taken on the day usually within a 2 week period. I will then email you with a link to view the photos on a private online gallery for 30 days. If you have digitals included in your packages this is where you will choose which images you want, I will then make them available for you to download. The instructions will be included in the email on what to do. Additional products may be purchased at this time.

What are the changes due to Covid-19?
  • NHS COVID-19 QR code Check-in. (please have the app downloaded ready)
  • COVID-19 Screening form.
  • If you or anyone in your household has ANY symptoms of coronavirus please call me to reschedule, I will also do the same.
  • Please bring only what you need for the session.
  • Upon arrival, I will ask you to remove your coat and shoes and sanitise yours hands before going upstairs.
  • I will be wearing a mask during the session and advise you to do the same if possible.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the session.
  • My studio will be cleaned within an inch of its life prior to the session.
  • If you require snacks/drinks during your session you must bring your own.
  • Toilet facilities unavailable.
  • Only parents in the studio during the session.
  • Sibling images will be done at either the start/end of the session due to restrictions so they don’t stay throughout the session.
  • Props only used that I can keep safe by washing and spraying.
  • 1 session a day to allow thorough cleaning in between each session.
  • All sessions will require help from the parent attending for posing etc so I am able to keep as much distance from you as possible.
  • Some props quarantined for several days that cannot be cleaned thoroughly.
