Why have a Pre-Wedding/Engagement Shoot?
Most people ask me why should they bother having a Pre-Wedding Shoot/Engagement – Is it really necessary?
I find it is, here are my reasons why:-
It gives YOU as a couple an idea of what to expect on your wedding day
It gives you a chance to get to know me as a wedding photographer; what I do, what I don’t do.
It gives you an idea of the style I shoot in, what type of photos I take, and what I might ask of you on the big day.
It’s essential that you feel comfortable with me as your wedding photographer as you will be spending the majority of your wedding day with me.
If you are comfortable with me then you’ll be more relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera.
This can really help if you are particularly camera shy.
It gives ME as a Photographer an idea of what to expect on your wedding day
It helps me to prepare for the wedding better so I know how to pose you, how not to pose you, the style of photos you like/dislike, what looks good, what doesn’t look good so I know exactly how to shoot you on your wedding day.
It’s just as important that I get to know you, your personalities and your preferences. Some couples like to be more daring, some just want to have fun, some prefer posed photos, some prefer candid photos, some couples are not even sure what they want until we go on a Pre-Wedding Shoot.
Once I get to know you better on the shoot, I can suggest styles I think you would like and compliment you and make sure I really capture your personalities in the photos.
Just like you have a wedding rehearsal, this is like a photography rehearsal; as the photos are going to be one of the only things you have left from your wedding, I want to make certain I have shot your wedding exactly how you would want, so you can cherish those photos forever.
Once you’ve seen your photos, it will give you a better understanding of what to expect from your wedding photos.
Every couple that has had a Pre-Wedding Shoot with me was always unsure to begin with, as to why the shoot was needed until they had the session.
Every single couple said it was nowhere near as bad as they thought – they actually really enjoyed themselves! And now they have a complimentary print of themselves as a couple – some things most couples don’t have until their wedding day. 🙂
Yes, you can purchase a signing book, signing board, save the date cards, prints etc from your session if you would like to, but this is not mandatory and not the sole purpose of this session.
If you’ve not yet booked your wedding photographer, this is a great opportunity to try before you buy. It gives you a chance to get to know your wedding photographer and decide whether they are the right photographer for you.
Get in touch if you would like to book a Pre-Wedding/Engagement session – the session fee is £45 and if you decide to book me as your wedding photographer afterwards then your session fee will be deducted from the package price.
Most Pre-Wedding Shoots tend to take place at your venue or a local park, the photos above were taken at Tankersley Manor, Wentworth, Goole, Drax, Doncaster, Barnsley, Burntwood Court etc.
