Sitter Sessions

Sitter Sessions

Once your baby has past the newborn stage a sitter session will capture the next milestone when baby is sitting up unaided. This generally happens between 6-12 months and it is such a lovely stage to capture in your baby’s first year.  Sitter sessions are lots of fun, full of smiles and a wonderful way to document how much your baby has changed in such short time.
I like to keep these sessions simple and natural, focusing on your baby and capturing their little personalities.
Sitter sessions are held in my cosy home studio in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
If you are interested in booking a session please get in touch, it’s never too early to book as my diary often fills up quite far in advance.

What do I need to do in preparation?

If your child has naps, try to make sure they have had a nap prior to the session to ensure your child is bright and alert for the session.
Also if your child is feeling unwell, please call to re-arrange.
If you would like your child to wear a particular outfit to be photographed in, please make sure they have this on ready for when you arrive.

What should I bring?

I highly recommend bringing baby wipes/tissues to ensure their faces are clean as we know how they love to get their faces dirty!

What clothing should I wear?
  • Plain, bold colours.
  • No big logos to detract away from your face.
  • No stripes/fluorescent colours.
  • If more than one person is having their photos taken, wear colours that complement each other.

What are the changes due to Covid-19?
  • NHS COVID-19 QR code Check-in (please have the app downloaded ready).
  • COVID-19 Screening form.
  • If you or anyone in your household has ANY symptoms of coronavirus please call me to reschedule, I will also do the same.
  • Please bring only what you need for the session.
  • Upon arrival, I will ask you to remove your coat and shoes and sanitise yours hands before going upstairs.
  • I will be wearing a mask during the session where possible and advise you to do the same if possible.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the session.
  • My studio will be cleaned within an inch of its life prior to the session.
  • If you require snacks/drinks during your session you must bring your own.
  • Only parents in the studio during the session.
  • Sibling images will be done at either the start/end of the session due to restrictions so they don’t stay throughout the session.
  • Props only used that I can keep safe by washing and spraying.
  • 1 session a day to allow thorough cleaning in between each session.
  • All sessions will require help from the parent attending for posing etc so I am able to keep as much distance from you as possible.
  • Some props quarantined for several days that cannot be cleaned thoroughly.

What will happen on the shoot?

I’ll try to vary the shoot by using different positions, styled poses, different backgrounds and a variety of props. Obviously I will be limiting these to props that can be washed or cleaned properly.
I will provide everything that we need for the session. I always ask that a parent is on hand to help with positioning and handling the child.
The amount of photos depends totally on the individual being photographed.
As the session is done at my home studio, it will be very comfortable; you are welcome to bring your own refreshments. If you require a parent shot we will do these at either the start/end of the session. The studio will be marked out in order for us to keep socially distant.

What happens after?

Once the session is over, I will edit all the photos taken on the day usually within a 2-3 week period. I will then email you with a link to view the photos on a private online gallery for 30 days. If you have digitals included in your packages this is where you will choose which images you want, I will then make them available for you to download. The instructions will be included in the email on what to do. Additional products may be purchased at this time.
